Observable timing discrepancy in Express.js basic-auth-connect before 1.1.0 allows remote attackers to infer credentials via requests. Its Basic Authentication callback compares attacker-supplied username and password strings with timing-unsafe equality, causing response time to vary with matching content. An unauthenticated network position is sufficient, and successful inference exposes authentication credentials without altering data or interrupting service.
