Credential disclosure via disabled TLS verification
Published Sep 26, 2024 · Updated Sep 26, 2024
Improper authentication in Nix 1.11 through 2.18.7 and 2.24.0 through 2.24.7 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read credentials. The builtin:fetchurl builder creates FileTransferRequest objects with verifyTLS disabled, so HTTPS peers are not authenticated before URLs or netrc data are sent. Exposure requires a man-in-the-middle position and a fetch using URL credentials, netrc authentication, or credential-bearing impureEnvVars.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
