Authenticated image overwrite via unnormalized character ID
Published Sep 26, 2024 · Updated Sep 26, 2024
Path traversal in Agnai before 1.0.330 allows remote authenticated users to write image files outside the intended upload directory. The editCharacter handler passes a URL-decoded, attacker-controlled character ID to entityUpload, which interpolates it into a filename without normalization or a path-containment check. Exploitation requires a publicly exposed self-hosted instance using local image storage rather than S3-compatible storage, and successful writes can overwrite existing images for defacement.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
