Callsign disclosure via unencrypted message fields
Published Sep 26, 2024 · Updated Oct 17, 2024
Cleartext transmission in goTenna Pro App 1.61 and earlier allows physically proximate attackers to read callsigns from radio messages. The app places callsign fields into otherwise encrypted messages without applying encryption, exposing identifiers over the RF mesh. Reception requires proximity to the radio network; disclosed callsigns can reveal user identity or operational details, but no message alteration is reported.
