Stored XSS via unsanitized app metadata rendering
Published Sep 24, 2024 · Updated Mar 25, 2025
Stored XSS in Rocket.Chat 6.12.0, 6.11.2, 6.10.5, 6.9.6, 6.8.6, 6.7.8, and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run script. The marketplace AppDetails and AppReleases views passed app descriptions and rendered release changelogs directly to dangerouslySetInnerHTML without DOMPurify sanitization. A user with permission to publish or upload a marketplace or private app must plant the payload, and another user must open its details or release notes; script execution is confined to that viewer's browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
