CVE-2024-47046

Code execution via BDF parser memory corruption

Published Oct 8, 2024 · Updated Dec 10, 2024

Memory corruption in Siemens Simcenter Nastran and Femap allows attackers to execute code when a user opens a crafted BDF file. The BDF parser performs memory operations outside buffer bounds on attacker-controlled file content, corrupting the current process. Opening the file is required; successful exploitation runs code with the process's privileges, while failed exploitation can crash the application.
