Local privilege escalation via syscall address bounds check
Published Oct 25, 2024 · Updated Oct 25, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Android TrustyOS on supported Pixel devices allows local users to escalate privileges through a syscall address check. The valid_address function in syscall.c applies an incorrect bounds check, allowing a crafted syscall address to read beyond the intended boundary. Exploitation requires local execution, no user interaction, and no additional execution privileges, and successful use elevates privileges within the device.
