Local privilege escalation via modem buffer overwrite
Published Oct 25, 2024 · Updated Oct 25, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Google Android's Pixel Modem allows local users to escalate privileges through malformed mobile-identity data. mm_GetMobileIdIndexForNsUpdate in mm_GmmPduCodec.c applies an incorrect bounds check before writing a mobile-identity index outside its destination buffer. Low-privileged local access is required; exploitation needs no user interaction and grants elevated execution privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
