Code execution via pre-mount file deletion
Published Aug 29, 2025 · Updated Aug 29, 2025
Improper access control in Diebold Nixdorf Vynamic Security Suite through 4.3.0 SR06 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code. The mountfs startup script deletes /fastboot and /forcefsck before mounting filesystems, so a crafted /etc/fstab symlink targets a critical file. Offline access to the ATM disk is required; successful manipulation exposes protected Linux files and, in affected versions, TPM disk-encryption keys and the Windows partition.
