CVE-2024-46901Network attack vector

Repository disruption via unvalidated control-character paths

Published Dec 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 13, 2025

Improper input validation in Apache Subversion 1.14.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to disrupt HTTP repository access. mod_dav_svn creation paths store filenames containing control characters without applying svn_path_check_valid, causing the XML library to reject affected revisions during later operations. Commit access and a custom or third-party client are required unless anonymous writes are enabled; recovery can require a full repository dump and reload.
