CVE-2024-46863

Kernel crash via unterminated audio link array

Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds reads in the Linux kernel 6.10 through 6.10.10 allow local users to crash the kernel during Intel Lunar Lake audio probing. The snd_soc_acpi_link_adr array lacks the zeroed sentinel that hda_sdw_machine_select() expects, so its loop reads past the array and dereferences invalid entries. Reaching the flaw requires local access to rebind the driver or reboot an affected Intel Lunar Lake system with a CS42L43 device on SoundWire link 0; consequences include a kernel oops, audio loss, and exposure of kernel-derived names through procfs or sysfs.
