CVE-2024-46854Public exploit

Kernel memory disclosure via unpadded short frames

Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in the DPAA Ethernet driver allows local users to disclose up to three bytes of kernel memory in short frames. The transmit path in drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/dpaa/dpaa_eth.c passes undersized buffers without extending them to ETH_ZLEN, so Ethernet padding contains bytes beyond the packet data. Local users must be able to transmit short packets through an affected DPAA interface; each emitted frame exposes at most three trailing bytes.
