Local denial of service via undersized perf periods

Denial of service in the Linux kernel on Haswell systems allows local users to hang perf interrupt handling through crafted perf events. The perf frequency-estimation path initializes the sampling period to 1, below the HSW11 minimum and the threshold where simultaneous counter expirations trap the NMI handler in an IRQ loop. Exploitation requires local perf-event access on an Intel Haswell CPU; the reported consequence is service interruption without data disclosure or modification.
