CVE-2024-46817

Service interruption via excess AMD display streams

Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in the Linux AMD display driver allows local users to interrupt service during GPU initialization. amdgpu_dm_initialize_drm_device copies the hardware-reported maximum stream count into the CRTC count, then indexes a six-entry plane array once per stream without a release-build bounds check. Reachability requires AMD display hardware reporting more than six streams, and the resulting overrun compromises system availability.
