Local kernel crash via debug-event work race
Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 6.5 through 6.6.49 and 6.7 through 6.10.8 allows local users to crash the kernel. Queued amdkfd interrupt work can run after debug_trap_disable clears dbg_ev_file, causing the worker's kernel_write operation to access a NULL file pointer. Reachability requires local access to an AMD KFD debug session and a race between queued interrupt work and debug-trap disablement.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
