CVE-2024-46802

System crash via unchecked display stream pointers

Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the AMD display driver in Linux allows local users to crash the system during stream validation. The dc_validate_stream function dereferences its dc and stream arguments without first rejecting NULL values, causing invalid kernel memory access. Reaching the flaw requires low-privileged local access to the affected AMD display path; the documented consequence is availability loss only.
