System crash via unchecked link encoder pointer
Published Sep 18, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel AMD display code allows local users to crash affected systems during physical-link creation. The construct_phy function calls DC_LOG_DC to read link_enc feature flags before checking whether link_enc_create returned NULL. Reachability requires the AMD display driver and a failed link-encoder creation path; the documented consequence is availability loss, with no confidentiality or integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
