Boot hang via premature LPUART runtime suspend
Published Sep 13, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
A boot-time denial of service in Linux allows attackers to hang affected systems through early console output during initialization. In drivers/tty/serial/fsl_lpuart.c, uart_add_one_port probes a runtime-PM-enabled child before the normal console is ready, allowing the parent LPUART to suspend prematurely. The condition requires an fsl_lpuart controller and earlycon with initcall_debug=1 and loglevel=8; earlycon putchar then waits indefinitely for UARTSTAT TRDE.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
