Kernel crash via null framebuffer object dereference
Published Sep 13, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 6.0 allows local users to crash the system through AMD display framebuffer operations. The AMD display plane code reads state->fb->obj[0] directly instead of retrieving and validating the GEM object before use. Reachability requires local interaction with the AMD display framebuffer path, and the documented consequence is an availability-only system interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
