Privilege escalation via crafted symbolic links
Published Jan 6, 2025 · Updated Jan 7, 2025
Privilege escalation in SecureAge Security Suite 7.0.37, 7.1.10, 8.0.17, and 8.1.17 and earlier allows local users to alter privileged files. The running software follows attacker-created symbolic links without constraining their targets, redirecting privileged file operations to protected Windows paths. A user must already be logged in and able to create the specific links; exploitation permits file creation, modification, or deletion with the software's privileges.
