Authentication bypass in BYD DiLink Headunit System 3.0 through 4.0 allows physically proximate attackers to enter programming mode via CAN. The ISO 14229 service 0x27 repeatedly exposes a fixed-length two-byte seed and accepts two-byte key guesses without restricting failed attempts, making exhaustive key search practical. Access to the vehicle's CAN bus is required; successful authentication permits sensitive diagnostic operations, including firmware-flashing services.
