Unauthenticated administrative access via initAdminUser request
Published Feb 10, 2025 · Updated Feb 10, 2025
Authentication bypass in the Tenda W18E web portal in firmware 16.01.0.8(1625) allows remote attackers to gain administrative access. The authSecurityHandler exempts /goform/module requests from its initial login requirement, and the later JSON endpoint allowlist permits initAdminUser to establish an authenticated administrator session without credentials. The management portal must be reachable from the attacker's network position; successful exploitation grants full administrative control over the router.
