Administrative access via hardcoded guest credentials
Published Feb 10, 2025 · Updated Feb 10, 2025
Hardcoded credentials in Tenda W18E 16.01.0.8(1625) allow remote attackers to access the web portal as administrators. The firmware creates a hidden guest account with the fixed password guest, assigns it full administrative API privileges, and offers no interface to change its password. Access requires reachability to the router's management portal from an adjacent network, after which the account can change settings and read stored passwords.
