Authenticated user redirection via unvalidated login destination
Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated Sep 27, 2024
Open redirect in ModStartCMS 8.8.0 allows remote attackers to redirect authenticated users to arbitrary websites via crafted login URLs. The /admin/login endpoint accepts the redirect query parameter as an absolute external URL and uses it as the post-authentication destination without restricting its origin. A targeted user must open the crafted URL and successfully log in; the demonstrated consequence is navigation to attacker-chosen content suitable for phishing.
