Stored XSS via unsanitized Table of Contents settings
Published Jul 2, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stored XSS in Rank Math SEO before 1.0.219 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through Table of Contents settings. The plugin stores the Table of Contents Title without adequate sanitization or escaping, while a crafted titleWrapper emits that value through a script element in saved post content. Access to General Settings is required by default for administrators but can be delegated to lower roles, and execution occurs when the affected content is viewed.
