CVE-2024-46261Public exploit

Out-of-bounds heap read via crafted PNG

Published Oct 1, 2024 · Updated Mar 17, 2025

Heap buffer overflow in Randy Gaul cute_png 1.05 allows context-dependent attackers to trigger an out-of-bounds read via a crafted PNG. During cp_find processing, cp_make32 reads one byte 109 bytes before the heap allocation that holds the PNG input. A host application must load the file; the published AddressSanitizer run aborts, while effects in unsanitized builds are not established.
