Sensitive directory download via unvalidated backup path
Published Oct 16, 2024 · Updated Oct 17, 2024
Path traversal in REDAXO CMS 5.17.1 allows remote authenticated users to download server directories through the backup export page. The handler passes the attacker-controlled EXPDIR value to addFolderToTar(), whose opendir() call opens it without validation or normalization. Administrator access to the backend is required, and successful exploitation returns an archive of files from the chosen server directory.
