Contributor-level code execution via editable post metadata
Published May 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Code injection in Breakdance 1.7.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with Contributor access to execute arbitrary PHP code. The plugin stores custom data in WordPress post metadata without an underscore prefix, exposing those fields to Contributor editing in the UI. Contributor-or-higher access to a WordPress site is required; crafted metadata can grant Administrator privileges or run code in the server context.
