Account takeover via Host-trusted password-reset links
Published Sep 26, 2024 · Updated Sep 26, 2024
Host header injection in scheduleR 0.0.18 allows remote attackers to steal password-reset tokens through victim-opened links. The forgot-password handler trusts the request Host header when generating emailed reset URLs, allowing an attacker-supplied domain to receive the token. No authentication is required to submit the reset request, but the targeted user must open the emailed link before the attacker can reset that user's password and take over the account.
