Account takeover via Host-derived password-reset links
Published Sep 26, 2024 · Updated Sep 26, 2024
Host header injection in BookReviewLibrary 1.0 allows remote attackers to steal password-reset tokens through crafted reset links. The forgot-password handler builds the emailed absolute reset URL from an unvalidated Host header, allowing an attacker-controlled domain. A recipient must click the emailed link, which sends the token to the attacker and enables that account's password reset and takeover.
