CVE-2024-45970Network attack vector

Code execution via unchecked FileDirResponse lengths

Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflows in MZ Automation LibIEC61850 before 1.6.0 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The FileDirResponse parser copies attacker-controlled filename and lastModified fields into fixed-size stack buffers without validating decoded lengths. Exploitation requires an MMS client to process a malformed response from a malicious server and can crash the client or corrupt execution; CISA separately maps the distinct lib60870 product.
