CVE-2024-45969Network attack vector

Client crash via unchecked MMS response buffer

Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

NULL pointer dereference in the libIEC61850 MMS client before 7afa403 allows remote attackers to crash client applications. AcseConnection_parseMessage reads the ByteBuffer fields of a null or empty MMS InitiationResponse without first validating the message pointer and payload size. Exploitation requires a client application to connect to a malicious MMS server, and the resulting process crash interrupts that client.
