CVE-2024-45965Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unsanitized SVG uploads

Published Oct 2, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2025

Cross-site scripting in Contao before 5.5.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through malicious SVG uploads. The upload configuration accepts SVG and SVGZ documents without neutralizing embedded active content before those files are rendered in back-end or front-end pages. An account with file-upload permission must place the document, and browser access to the stored SVG triggers code in the viewing user's context.
