Stored XSS via executable PDF upload
Published Oct 2, 2024 · Updated Oct 2, 2024
Stored XSS in the Media Manager of October CMS 3.6.30 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a crafted PDF. The /admin/media upload flow accepts a PDF containing JavaScript and serves it from the site so the payload runs when the stored file is opened. Administrator access is required to upload the file, and a site user must open it; the demonstrated consequence is script execution in that user's browser.
