Authenticated command execution via unfiltered station settings
Published Oct 8, 2024 · Updated Oct 8, 2024
Command injection in Motorola CX2L router firmware 1.0.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. SetStationSettings passes parameters such as a MAC address directly to system() without filtering shell metacharacters. Access requires low privileges from an adjacent network, and successful injection executes commands with the service's operating-system permissions.
