CVE-2024-45870Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Viewer crash via unchecked JXR pointer write

Published Oct 3, 2024 · Updated Oct 3, 2024

Incorrect access control in Bandisoft BandiView 7.05 allows remote attackers to crash the viewer by inducing a user to open a crafted JXR file. In BandiView.exe at sub_0x3d80fc, the JXR parser writes through a pointer derived from unsupported file content without validating the destination, causing an access violation. The victim must open the malicious image; the demonstrated consequence is an application shutdown or freeze, not code execution or data exposure.
