CVE-2024-45863Network attack vector

Authenticated server crash via invalid protocol parsing

Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated Sep 27, 2024

Null-pointer dereference in Facebook Thrift from 2024.09.09.00 to before 2024.09.23.00 allows remote authenticated users to crash RPC servers. The request parser accepts an invalid protocol selection and later dereferences a null protocol object; Meta has not disclosed the affected function or parser path. A reachable Thrift server and low-privileged access are required, and the documented consequence is a process crash that interrupts service.
