Stored XSS via unsanitized dataset table rendering
Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Stored XSS in all versions of MindsDB allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in another user's browser through the web UI. The dataset table renders attacker-controlled cell content as HTML, so an uploaded image element's error handler executes when the dataset is viewed. An attacker must authenticate and create a malicious dataset, and a victim must open its contents; the script then runs in the victim's MindsDB origin.
