Authenticated code execution via unsafe pickle deserialization
Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Deserialization in MindsDB 23.3.2.0 and later allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary server code via an uploaded model. The BYOM proc_wrapper.py decode function passes interprocess model data directly to pickle.loads without validating the serialized object. Exploitation requires model-upload privileges and occurs when the malicious model is interacted with, granting code execution in the server process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
