Authenticated code execution via query parameter eval
Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Eval injection in MindsDB 23.11.4.2 through 24.7.4.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute Python code through crafted UPDATE queries. The _dispatch_update method in vectordatabase_handler.py passes an attacker-controlled embeddings string to Python eval instead of a data-only parser. Exploitation requires authenticated query access and a database using an affected integration engine, and successful payloads run with the server process privileges.
