Authenticated code execution via Weaviate vector filter eval
Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Eval injection in MindsDB 23.10.3.0 through 24.7.4.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute Python code through a Weaviate SELECT query. The Weaviate handler's select() method passes a string value from an embedding-vector WHERE filter directly to Python eval instead of parsing it as data. Exploitation requires a valid MindsDB session, an installed Weaviate integration, and a database created with that engine; successful input runs with the server process's privileges.
