Manager-to-Administrator escalation via loopback TCP monitor
Published Oct 16, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2024
Privilege escalation in affected F5 BIG-IP releases allows remote authenticated users with Manager access to gain Administrator privileges. An LTM TCP monitor accepts a raw forged MCP message and, after its destination is changed, sends it to the unauthenticated mcpd service on 127.0.0.1:6666. Manager-role SSH access is required; successful exploitation can create an Administrator account and permit full BIG-IP configuration changes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
