CVE-2024-45823Network attack vector

User impersonation via cross-account shared secrets

Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 12, 2024

Authentication bypass in Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk Batch View 2.01.00 allows remote attackers to impersonate users over the network. The authentication design reuses shared secrets across accounts, allowing one account's secret to authenticate as another when additional account information is enumerated. No prior account or user interaction is required, but exploitation depends on discovering that additional authentication data and can expose or alter batch-control data or interrupt service.
