CVE-2024-45813Network attack vector

Service interruption via multiparametric route regex backtracking

Published Sep 18, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024

Regular expression denial of service in delvedor's HTTP radix-tree router before 8.2.2 and in 9.0.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt service. Route compilation in Router.prototype._on and findRoute builds adjacent parameter captures as repeated non-greedy wildcards, allowing crafted unmatched paths to force excessive regex backtracking. The application must register a multiparametric segment with a trailing separator and expose it to unauthenticated requests; exploitation consumes CPU and interrupts request processing.
