Authenticated daemon crash via malformed INGEST_EVAL parameter
Published Oct 14, 2024 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Denial of service in Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud Platform allows remote authenticated users to crash splunkd via a crafted search. The search processor accepts an improperly formatted INGEST_EVAL parameter in a Field Transformation in affected Enterprise 9.1, 9.2, and 9.3 branches and Cloud 9.1.2312 and 9.2.2403 branches. A low-privileged account without the admin or power role is sufficient, and the reported consequence is a service crash without data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=9.1 <9.1.6
