Low-privilege code execution via insecure session storage
Published Oct 14, 2024 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Remote code execution in Splunk Enterprise on Windows allows remote authenticated users to run code through Splunk Web. Splunk attributes the flaw to insecure session storage but has not disclosed the session-data format, deserialization locus, or unsafe operation. The issue requires a low-privileged account without the admin or power role and affects 9.1.0 through 9.1.5 and 9.2.0 through 9.2.2 only when Splunk Web runs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=9.1 <9.1.6
