CVE-2024-45720

Program execution via best-fit argument conversion

Published Oct 9, 2024 · Updated Oct 9, 2024

OS command injection in Apache Subversion 1.14.3 and earlier allows local users to execute other programs through crafted arguments. Windows' narrow main entry point converts the UTF-16 command line to ANSI before separating arguments, so best-fit mappings can turn crafted Unicode into option syntax. Exploitation requires local access and user interaction to invoke a Subversion executable with the crafted string; injected programs inherit its context.
