Path traversal in SolarWinds Serv-U 15.4.2 HF 2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through FTP file operations. The FTP service uses a user-supplied path in file operations without proper validation, allowing traversal when software environment variables are abused. A valid Serv-U account is required, and successful code runs as NETWORK SERVICE with access bounded by the account and service context.
