Local process crash via cyclic PDF resources
Published May 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Uncontrolled recursion in Xpdf 4.05 and earlier allows attackers to crash a local process via a PDF containing cyclic resource objects. While resolving PDF resources, the parser repeatedly follows an object loop without terminating, causing infinite recursion and stack exhaustion. The crafted file must be processed locally, and the documented consequence is an affected-process crash rather than data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
