CVE-2024-45678Public exploit

Physical ECDSA key extraction via electromagnetic leakage

Published Sep 3, 2024 · Updated Mar 17, 2025

Side-channel leakage in Yubico YubiKey 5 Series before 5.7.0 and YubiHSM 2 before 2.4.0 allows physically proximate attackers to extract ECDSA keys. Infineon’s ECDSA library uses a non-constant-time Extended Euclidean Algorithm for modular inversion, exposing key-dependent electromagnetic traces during signatures. Exploitation requires physical possession, specialized equipment, and observation of signing operations; recovered keys permit device cloning or forged signatures in affected uses.
